DEVTRENCH: The Web Development Blog
DEVTRENCH probably isn’t your average web development blog. Mostly what I see out there in the development blog space are tutorial blogs that cover a certain niche, like how to make css buttons, or write jquery stuff, or perl magic. While that might be great for SEO, I throw caution to the wind and write about whatever the hell I want to (well, with in reason of course, I’m not crazy). Basically this blog has always been about my development experience which ranges from design to programming to sys admin. Sometimes there are tutorials on PHP programming, CSS, or design, but I also write about internet marketing, content, general web development issues, and sometimes even really personal stuff.

About the Author
My name is James Ehly and I’ve been a web developer since 1997 when I got my first job as a student intern at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Since then I’ve held various titles at different jobs: Multimedia Design Specialist, Web Developer, Creative Director, and Designer. All of that just boils down to a pretty well rounded skill set in web development that includes web design, php programming, flash animation, seo, 3D, css, etc. I have a tendency to get bored easily (both a blessing and a curse), so I’ve ended up teaching myself a lot of things.
I live and will hopefully die in Lincoln, Nebraska, am married to my high school sweetheart, and have 2 3 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 1 fish. I’ve had a work-at-home relationship with my past two employers and it has worked out very well. I can’t see my self going back into a ‘normal’ working environment, and am working towards doing web development for my own company full time. I also have a strong interest in making money online through blogs and affiliate marketing.
Besides teaching myself how to draw, and how to make websites, I’ve also taught myself how to play guitar, and currently play in the worship band at my church. Rock out with us on Sundays at 11:00am if you’re in the area. ![]()
